Ask your provider how the website performs for real users, especially on mobile, and which issues affect important customer tasks. A single score is a useful signal rather than a complete judgment. Focus on loading, responsiveness, and layout stability in the pages people actually use.
Connect performance to the journey
Identify the homepage, main service pages, booking route, and inquiry form. Test those pages on ordinary devices and connections. A fast empty page is not a meaningful benchmark for a page containing the information your customers need.
Watch whether images delay the main message, whether buttons respond, and whether content shifts as the page loads. Record what the user experiences rather than only copying a number from a report.
Understand the broad measures
Core Web Vitals describe loading performance, responsiveness, and visual stability. The current metrics include LCP, INP, and CLS. Ask the provider to explain any relevant findings in terms of the actual page experience instead of leaving them as unexplained abbreviations.
Different testing methods can produce different results. Clarify whether a report reflects measured user experience, a simulated test, or both before comparing scores.
Review common design tradeoffs
Large images, video, third-party tools, and effects can affect the experience. The right response is not always to remove them. Ask whether assets can be prepared better, loaded appropriately, or replaced with a simpler implementation that preserves the useful content.
For a hypothetical portfolio business, high-quality images are central to the offer. The goal is a well-prepared gallery, not a website stripped of the work customers came to see.
Agree on a focused improvement
Ask which issue has the clearest practical impact and what will be checked after the change. Avoid buying a vague “speed package” without understanding the pages and problems involved.
Recheck after meaningful changes to media, tools, or layout. Performance is part of maintaining the customer experience, not a score collected once at launch.
ZING can help balance visual design with a usable website. Bring the pages where customers hesitate or report problems. A useful performance conversation connects technical findings to the tasks that help people understand the business and make contact.
